Isaiah 44 Acts

The following is a map between Isaiah 44 and Acts. The key matches are Chosen, Spirit and Idol. The question mark signifies an unknown match.

Chosen

13 Isaiah 44:1-2
44 1Now listen to me, Jacob, my servant, and Israel, whom I have chosen;
2Yahvah that made you and formed you from the womb and helped you says: Do not fear, Jacob, my servant; and you, Israel, whom I have chosen.

44 Acts 1:23-26
23So they appointed 2, Joseph called Barshabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24And as they prayed, they said, Master, you know what is in the hearts of all men; show which of these 2 you choose,
25that he may receive the lot to the ministry and apostleship, from which Judah has been relieved to go his own way.
26Then they cast lots, and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was numbered with the 11 apostles.

Spirit

13 Isaiah 44:3
3For I will give water in a parched ground and streams on the dry land; I will pour my spirit on your sons and my blessings on your offspring;

44 Acts 2:17
17It will come to pass in the last days, said God, I will pour my spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy and your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams;

Baptism

13 Isaiah 44:4-5
4and they will spring up as among the grass, as willows by the running streams.
5One will say, I am Yahvah's; and another will call himself by the name of Jacob; and another will subscribe with his hand to Yahvah and surname himself by the name of Israel.

44 Acts 2:41
41And those men among them, who readily accepted his word and believed, were baptized, and about 3,000 souls were added in that day.

God

13 Isaiah 44:6-7
6Yahvah, the King of Israel and his Savior, Yahvah of hosts says: I am the first and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.
7And who is like me? Let him announce it and set it in order and declare it, since I placed the people on the land forever. And let them show the wonders that are coming.

44 Acts 3:12-14
12And when Simon Peter saw it, he said to them, Men of Israel, why are you wondering at this man, or why are you looking at us, as though by our own power or authority, we made this man to walk?
13The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our Fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
14But you denied the Holy One and the Righteous and asked a murderer to be given to you,

Witnesses

13 Isaiah 44:8
8Do not fear, nor be alarmed; have I not announced to you from former time, and have declared it? You are my witnesses, that there is no God besides me, and no mighty one whom I do not know.

44 Acts 3:15
15and killed the Prince of Life, whom God has raised from the dead; all of us are his witnesses.

Idol

13 Isaiah 44:9-20
9The makers of images are all of them vanity; and there is no profit in the works which they desire to make; the craftsmen who make them are witnesses, for they do not see, nor hear, nor know.
10Therefore let them be ashamed, those who make gods or graven and molten images that are profitable for nothing.
11Look, all their craftsmen are mute men; let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; they will be ashamed and confounded together.

12The carpenter sharpens an iron instrument, he shapes the image with a plane and fashions it with a chisel and works it with the strength of his arm; yes, he becomes hungry and also thirsty, he drinks no water and is faint.
13The carpenter selects a piece of wood, and stretches out his rule; he marks it out with a line; he fashions it with planes and makes it into the likeness of a man, according to the beauty of a man;
14then he makes it to stand in the house, a piece of wood which was cut down out of the forest, something which the rain has nourished,
15a thing for men to use as fuel; they take some of it and heat the oven and bake bread; yes, they also make a god of it and worship it; yes, they make it a graven image and worship it.
161/2 of it they burn in the fire; and on its coals they roast meat, and they eat and are satisfied; they also warm themselves and say, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire;
17and of the rest they make a god, even a graven image; and they worship it and pray to it and say, Deliver us; for you are our god.

18They have not known nor understood; for the vision of their eyes is shut that they cannot see, and the understanding of their hearts, so that they cannot understand.
19And they did not consider in their heart, nor did they know, nor did they reason saying, 1/2 of it we burned in the fire; yes, we have also baked bread on its coals; we have roasted meat and eaten it; and from the rest of it we have made for ourselves an idol of wood and worshiped it.
20Their imagination is dull; they are surely gone astray, and cannot deliver themselves, nor say, Our right hand has worked falsehood.

44 Acts 19:23-41
23And at that time, there was a great uprising against those who followed in the way of God.
24There was here a silversmith named Demetrius, who made silver shrines for Artemis, thus greatly enriching the craftsmen of his trade.
25He called together all the craftsmen of his trade, with the workmen of like occupation, and said to them, Men, you know that all of our earnings are derived from this craft.
26You also hear and see that not only the Ephesians, but almost throughout all Asia Minor, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people simply by saying that gods made by the hands of men are not gods,
27so that not only is this craft doomed, but the temple of the great goddess Artemis will also be disregarded, and the goddess of all Asia Minor, even she whom all peoples worship, will be despised.

28And when they heard these things, they were filled with wrath and cried out saying, Great is Artemis of the Ephesians.
29And the whole city was in tumult; and they rushed together to the theater, and there seized and carried along with them Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, members of Paul's escort.
30And Paul wanted to go into the theater, but the disciples stopped him.
31And likewise, some of the chiefs of Asia Minor, because they were his friends, sent to him, begging him not to risk his life by entering the theater.
32Now the multitude in the theater was greatly confused; some cried one thing, and some another; and many of them did not know why they had assembled together.
33And the Jews, who were there, appointed a Jew named Alexander. And when he rose up, he gestured with his hand and would have addressed the people.
34But when they knew he was a Jew, all of them cried out with one voice for about 2 hours, Great is Artemis of the Ephesians.

35The mayor of the city finally quieted them saying, Men of Ephesus, who among men does not know that the city of the Ephesians is the seat of great Artemis and her image that fell from the skies?
36Therefore since no man can contradict this you should keep quiet and do nothing hastily.
37For you have brought these men here who have neither robbed temples nor have they reviled our goddess.
38But if Demetrius and the men of his trade have a case against any man, look, there is a proconsul in the city; let the craftsmen come forward and settle with one another in the court.
39But if you want something else, it must be determined in a lawful assembly.
40For even now we are in danger of being charged with sedition, for we cannot give an answer concerning this day's meeting, because we have assembled for no reason, and have been tumultuous without a cause.
41And when he had said these things, he dismissed the assembly.

Jacob

13 Isaiah 44:21-23
21Remember these things, Jacob and Israel, for you are my servant; I have formed you; you are my servant; Israel, from now on do not forget me.
22I have blotted out your iniquities as a thick mist, and your sins as a cloud; return to me, for I have saved you.

23Sing, skies; for Yahvah has done it; shout, foundations of the land; break forth into singing, mountains, forest, and every tree in it. For Yahvah has saved Jacob and glorified himself in Israel.

44 Acts 21:18-20
18And the next day, when all the elders were present, we went in with Paul to Jacob.
19And when we had saluted them, Paul told them in successive order everything that God had done among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20And when they heard it, they glorified God and said to Paul, Our brother, see how many 1,000s there are in Judea who are believers; and they are all zealous of the law:

?

13 Isaiah 44:24-28
24Yahvah, who saved you and who formed you from the womb and helped you says: I am Yahvah who made all things; who stretched out the skies alone; who spread out the land by myself;
25who makes void the signs of the diviners and despises their divinations; who turns wise men backward and makes their knowledge foolish;
26who confirms the word of his servant and performs the counsel of his messengers; who said to Jerusalem, You will be inhabited, and to the cities of Judah, You will be built and I will raise up its ruins;
27who said to the deep, Be dry, and who dried up the rivers;
28who said of Cyrus, He is my shepherd and will perform all my pleasure; even saying to Jerusalem, You will be built; and to the house, Your foundations will be laid.
