16 Ezra

Send Lambs

13 Isaiah 16:1
16 1The prophecy concerning the rest of the land. I will send the son of the ruler of the land from the rock city of the wilderness, to the mount of the daughter of Zion.

16 Ezra 1:2-4
2Cyrus, king of Persia, says: Yahvah, god of the skies, has given me all the kingdoms of the land, and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which city is in Judah.
3Who is there among you of all his people? His god be with him, let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house to Yahvah the god of Israel, he is the god who is in Jerusalem.
4And whoever remains in any place where he temporarily resides, let the men of his place help him with silver and with gold and with goods and with animals, together with the freewill offering for the house of god, which is in Jerusalem.

Outcasts

13 Isaiah 16:2-3
2And he will be like a bird that changes its nest, so the daughters of Moab will be deserted at the fords of Arnon.

3Take counsel, execute judgment; make your shadow as the night in the middle of the noonday; hide the outcasts; do not betray him who wanders.

16 Ezra 2:61-63
61And of the sons of the priests: sons of Habaiah, sons of Hakkoz, sons of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called after their name.
62These sought their register among those who were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found; therefore they were removed from the priesthood.
63And the leaders of Israel said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things, until there should rise up a high priest who would make an inquiry and see about the matter.

Help

13 Isaiah 16:4
4Let the outcasts of Moab live with you; be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler; for the destroyer is at an end, and the spoiler ceases, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

16 Ezra 4:1-2
1Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the people of the captivity were building the house to Yahvah, god of Israel,
2they came to Zerubbabel and to the chiefs of the fathers and said to them, Let us also build with you; for we seek your god as you do, and we have been sacrificing to him since the days of Esarhaddon, king of Assyria, who brought us up here.

Throne

13 Isaiah 16:5
5In mercy will a throne be established, and he will sit on it, in truth in the tent of David, a judge who seeks justice and hurries righteousness.

16 Ezra 4:24-5:0
24Then ceased the work of the house of god which is in Jerusalem. And it ceased until the 2nd year of the reign of Darius, king of Persia.

Heard About Moab

13 Isaiah 16:6
6We have heard of the majesty of Moab; he is very proud, even of his haughtiness and his wrath; his augurers so predict concerning him.

16 Ezra 9:1
1Now when these things were completed, the elders came to me saying, The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

Foundations

13 Isaiah 16:7
7Therefore Moab will howl; everyone will howl for Moab, for the foundations of the walls are destroyed; surely they groan like the sick.

16 Ezra 9:8-9
8And now, for a little while, grace has been shown from Yahvah our god, to leave us a remnant and to give us a place in his holy land, that our god may lighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our bondage.
9For we are bondmen; yet our god has not forsaken us in our bondage, but our god has granted mercy in the sight of the kings of Persia, and has cared for us today, to set up the house of our god and to repair its ruins and to give us a secure place in Judah and in Jerusalem.

Eat From the Land

13 Isaiah 16:8-11
8For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah; the lords of the nations have broken down its branches, they are come as far as Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness; its shoots spread out, they are gone over the sea.
9Therefore I will cause you to weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I will water you with your tears, Heshbon, and Elealeh; for an oppressor has come against your harvest and the gathering of your grapes.
10And gladness and joy are taken away out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there will not be rejoicing, nor will there be shouting, nor will they tread out wine in the press, nor will men tread out wine with their feet; for I have made the vine treaders cease.
11Therefore my heart will lament like a harp for Moab, and my soul for the fortified walls which will be destroyed.

16 Ezra 9:12
12Now do not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons, nor seek their peace or their prosperity forever, that you may be strong, and eat the good of the land and leave it for an inheritance to your sons forever.

Prayer at Sanctuary

13 Isaiah 16:12
12And it will come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high places, that he will come to the sanctuary to pray; but he will not prevail.

16 Ezra 10:1
1Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, prostrating himself and weeping before the house of Yahvah, there assembled to him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and sons; for the sons wept bitterly.

Word of Yahvah

13 Isaiah 16:13
13This is the word that Yahvah has spoken concerning Moab since that time.

16 Ezra 10:2-3
2And Shechaniah the son of Nehael, 1 of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra the scribe, We have transgressed against our god, and have taken foreign wives of the people of the land; now is there any hope for Israel concerning this thing?
3Therefore let us make a contract with our god to put away all the alien wives and those who are born of them, according to the counsel of our master and of those who tremble at the law of our god and his commandment; do it now and be strong.

3 Years/Days

13 Isaiah 16:14-17:0
14But now Yahvah has spoken saying, Within 3 years, as the years of an employee, the glory of Moab will be despised, with all that great multitude of his people; and the remnant will be very small and feeble.

16 Ezra 10:7-8
7And they made a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the exiles that they should gather themselves together to Jerusalem;
8and that whoever would not come within 3 days, it should be done to him according to the counsel of the elders and the chiefs, all his wealth could be forfeited and he himself separated from the people of Israel.
