Zephaniah - Psalms

Zephaniah refers to God's song, a perfect seque to Psalms.

Singing

Zephaniah has a reference to "God's song," or "God singing," near the end of the book. This leads into Psalms, a book of songs.

25 Zephaniah 3:17
17Yahvah your god in the middle of you is a mighty savior; he will make you rejoice with gladness; he will renew you with his love, he will make you joyful with a song as in the day of a feast.

26 Psalms 1:1
1Blessed is the man who does not walk in the way of the ungodly, nor stays in the counsel of sinners, nor sits in the company of mockers;

Many people composed songs that went into the book of Psalms, King David being most prominent, but Zephaniah does not refer to Psalms as the songs of David or some person, he refers to Psalms as God's song or God's singing. Why?

Psalms are a favorite for many people because they are personal and relevant. Who hasn't had their world collapse around them, at least metaphorically, and felt totally overwhelmed and powerless. Most psalms are cries for God to help in times such as these. All the other psalms are thanks for when God acted on someone's behalf. But, if these are God's songs then it must be that he enjoys hearing the cry of people as much as people enjoy seeing him act on their behalf.
