Jeremiah - Lamentations

The end of Jeremiah records three waves of deportations of Jews from Jerusalem to Babylon. Lamentations laments how the city that was full of people is now empty.

The Empty City

14 Jeremiah 52:28-30
28This is the number of people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive in the 7th year of his reign: 3,023 Jews;
29in the 18th year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, he carried away captive from Jerusalem 832 persons;
30in the 23rd year of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, carried away captive of the Jews 745 persons: all the persons were 4,600.

15 Lamentations 1:1
1How does the city sit solitary that was full of people. How is she become like a widow. She that was so great among the nations, and she that was a princess of the cities has become a tributary.

The thematic link between an empty Jerusalem and the lamentation for an empty city is easy to see.
