Broken Walls*
16 Ezra 10:44
44All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.
17 Nehemiah 1:3
3And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
*This connection is less obvious than most. My hunch is the broken walls imagery in the Nehemiah quote is a metaphor for the breach in the covenant people resulting from the men of Jerusalem marrying foreign women.
